Welcome to my new website!

My exciting news for September is that I heard from the Wells Festival of Literature that an unpublished story of mine has been shortlisted for their ‘Book for Children’ prize. ‘The Spaghetti Summer’ is a story about horse-mad Joanna, whose dreams of a summer at the local riding stables are destroyed when her dodgy dad sends her into hiding, in a tumbledown cottage in the middle of nowhere. Joanna can’t stay away from horses for long… but neither can she stay out of trouble!

I wrote this story after I finished my ‘Book of Storms’ trilogy, when I wanted to work on something lighter and more fun. It was intended to be a straightforward pony story but it took several twists and turns of its own, much like Joanna’s summer holiday. I’m absolutely elated that it was shortlisted for the Wells Festival prize, mostly because it means somebody must have enjoyed reading it!
