Free Writing

Set a timer for 5 minutes, pick up your pen and start writing. You can write absolutely anything you like – what you’re thinking, seeing, what you did yesterday or what you had for breakfast, even a string of random words. There’s only one rule: you’re not allowed to stop writing, not even for a second! 

This exercise is great for those moments when you think ‘I want to write but I don’t know how to start’. Because once you’ve got five minutes’ worth of words on a page, you’ve already started! Even if they are complete gibberish…
